I'm on the loser's bench!
Hi everyone! Sorry I've been MIA, I've spent the last month putting out fires at work while everyone was on vacation, which was actually a blessing since it distracted me from worrying about the surgery!
I had the RNY done on January 12th at Humber with Dr. Huynh. In fact, I was the patient directly before Leslie! I also had to stay an extra night in the hospital, but for me it was due to nausea and a high white blood cell count. There were a few moments of "wth have I done?!", but nothing I couldn't deal with. Other than that, I've been feeling pretty good, and seem to be healing well with very little need for pain killers.
At this point my main struggle is the 'hunger' I still feel. I'm not weak or anything, but I feel this gnawing emptiness in my remnant stomach that is driving me nuts. From what I've read it's not true hunger, just head hunger, but regardless it certainly feels real. I'm even dreaming of food all night! Luckily I haven't been having cravings or anything like that, which is a blessing. Like everyone else, staying hydrated is difficult, but I'm drinking more and more water every day.
So yay! I'm thrilled to be on the loser's bench with you all, and I just wanted to say thank you to everyone here for being so helpful and kind and generous with your advice and cheerleading!

I do not feel any hunger at all and have to follow a schedule to eat. I am enjoying the oatmeal and yogurt for breakfast and I just had my favourite meal. Strained cream of mushroom soup.

Century Club and Onederland in month 7!!
That makes a lot of sense! I haven't missed a day with the Prevacid, but today was the first time I took it well before breakfast and it seemed to help a lot with the empty feeling. The nurse never told to wait after taking it, but maybe it needs the time to coat the stomach before food goes in and dilutes it... thank you, your comment was very helpful!
