3 weeks post op
So I'm 3 weeks post op and I feel great! Getting all my protien in taking all my vitamins but...... boy am I finding it hard to get my water in! I love water and when I look at it I just want to guzzle it down but after 2 sips I can't drink any more for about a half hour. Today I pulled a no no and tried to drink it with a straw and I have to tell you it was so much easier! I am down 30 lbs from the start of Opti fast which I am thrilled about but I do find that I don't get full which I'm a little worried about, anyone else feel that way?
Congratulations Suzy!! That all sounds wonderful!!!
I think the straw thing is twofold. One, you're more likely to injest air, and therefore get gassy. Two, you'll probably drink more quickly with a straw, which is hard on the pouch. If neither of those are true for you, use the straw!!! Or just use it with caution. There is much controversy in the RNY world about straws and many say it's fine. I say it's MUCH better to get your water in than avoid straws!!
As for not feeling full; totally normal right now. All your nerves have been cut, so that feeling is gone. It will come. For me, it wasn't until about 2 months.
Keep on keeping on. You are doing amazing!!!

Century Club and Onederland in month 7!!
I was just going to mention the two things that Oneatatime did...I use straws (no big deal to me), and for me too after 2 months I started to feel full again. Good luck with everything.

Right now it's important to measure your food. Don't worry about feeling full. As others have said your nerves are still healing. You don't want to eat to much with you new pouch. Take a sip of water every few minutes. It all adds up. Keep a bottle near you and just keep sipping like it's your job. You've got this girl.

So glad you're feeling great and getting in your protein. Try experimenting with warm water, ice cold water, herbal teas or broths to get your liquid in. When I was a new pre op, I could only drin**** cold water. Then a few months along I liked my water at room temp, which was surprising as I've always liked only ice cold water. Now I prefer warm drinks, like herbal teas or broth.
Like others have said, your nerves were cut and you won't get that full sensation. I was never hungry after surgery so I was lucky, but the hunger came back after a few months.
Congrats on the great weight loss!

Kathy
you are doing great!
Try all the tips already mentioned to get in you water, its really important that you don't get dehydrated.
Also, as the others said, the full feeling doesn't come yet. Don't worry about it, just measure everything to help you keep your portions in check and that feeling will come later.
