Orientation Today

Hey All,

I had my orientation class today. It was informative but nothing I hadn't already read and researched. At the end of class they gave us our dates for the 1 on 1's... Not scheduled until the end of July. Talk about a let down I was hoping this would move little faster than that. Oh well at least my journey as begun.

Anyone else going through the Sudbury Clinic?

From what I've read and seen here on the site, every centre is different. I am in Hamilton. I had my orientation on July 4, 2016 and things didn't start moving for me until March 2017. That's 8 months before anything at all happened. After that things started moving a bit quicker but I still didn't have my surgery until September 2017. It's a long wait for some of us, but now that I have had the surgery and seen the results, I would do it all again.

Keep in touch with the clinic and try to get on a cancellation list. I did this and managed to get my appointments set in a more timely fashion. I got my surgery date by being on a cancellation too. It works but you have to be on it all the time.

I tried asking the secretary yesterday but she said that they no longer have a cancellation list and that no matter what you can't be seen before 2 months from your orientation date. I'm not quite sure why though.

Keep calling. Northern Ontario seems to have a longer wait but you are in the right direction and doing the right things. Lots of people have changed their habits and lost weight while waiting which makes post op life easier to succeed from what I see. You can do this Hard to wait but time will pass if you are waiting for this or not so at least you know at some point you will get there. I know that is easier said than done. We are here for you.
