Optifast flavours and Protein powders?
Hi all...I have been told I need to purchase my optifast Tuesday when I "see" the surgeon. What are your recommendations on vanilla vs chocolate? I suspect I will have to do three weeks (but here's hoping for two) so was thinking about two chocolate one vanilla? Or however many the equivalent is for the needed weeks in a 2:1 ratio as I generally like chocolate. But...I have read some things mentioning vanilla is better for mixing different flavours. Thoughts?
Also, I will be heading to the US and wondered if anyone has any recommendations on protein powders to try from any of the health stores there? Figured maybe now was the time to get some samples at least to try but looking for some suggestions on what others have tried and liked given I have heard they have more flavour variety there. Any suggestions appreciated.
I'm just finishing my first week of Optifast. I find the chocolate quite good and have been adding, sugar free raspberry syrup, peppermint and decaf coffee for some variety.
I'm not keen on the Vanilla and am struggling to flavour it just to get through it.
If I had it to do again, I would have got all chocolate.

Congratulations on getting to the Opti stage. Surgery must be close. :)
I got all chocolate because I heard the vanilla was very sweet, and I was worried I wouldn't like it. I was happy with the chocolate.
Others will chime in I'm sure with their love for vanilla. I think the most important is to know your palette and preference for flavour and go with that.
Each week has two boxes btw... so that may help you decide how to split it up.

I am leaning towards the chocolate too...but maybe a few Vanilla for variety - good to know it is two boxes per week!

I actually preferred the vanilla. I purchased a Crystal Light squeeze in flavour called Aloha pineapple coconut. That mixed with ice, super cold water and vanilla opti made me feel like I was having a pina colada.

I preferred vanilla as I mixed it with cold coffee or strong chai tea to kill the sweetness. Many centres make you take half of each so depending on where you are, you may not have a choice. Both are tolerable as long as they are ice cold.
Huh! Had no idea they might make you do half of each, guess I will find out on Tuesday. I don't drink coffee at all as I do not like the taste so that option is out but people really seem to like that!
