Hello Everyone

Today I am 6 weeks post op and I had my 1 month follow up appointment this past Wednesday at

Toronto Western. While on Optifast I lost 20 lbs and since surgery November 10th I have lost 31 lbs

(even had a stall for 19 days but the scale just started to move), I feel great now.

I have to switch to pill form now and I am having a hard time finding Calcium Citrate with 1200 - 1500 mg

of calcium citrate with 800 - 1200 IU of vitamin D, I have looked at Walmart, Costco and can't find

anything with these specifications, can anyone give me suggestions and a name brand and where I can

find them, I would appreciate any information

Thanks Sandra

I take 2 if these, 3 times a day. I just saw the nurse at TWH for my three month f/u and she was pleased with them. I bought them at Costco and they were well priced.

I take the Webber as well. You have to make sure to never take more than 500 to 600 mg of calcium at a time or you won't absorb it. I take 2 twice a day but some people them 2 three times per day depending on what their centre wants them on. I use dairy daily so that is why I only take 1200 total

Oaat - you go girl!

You should not buy one that has a very high amount of calcium your body can only absorb 300 -350 mg at a time apparently so you have to divide it throughout the day as long as it's not in your iron or caffeine.

We absorb 500 to 600 mg at a time...

I think the reality is the whole vitamin supplementation is confusing at best, but it's our reality. If our centre approves what we're doing, we're good to go. Mine approved mine... I am not about to change it until they tell me to.

the above posters are right - your body can't absorb that much at one time. Most of us take 500 mg at a pop. I take it 4x a day because I have osteopenia. Most take it 2-3x a day.
