3 Month Surgiversary!
I can't believe 3 months have passed since my surgery! What a journey!
I started optifast at 260lbs and had Surgery Sept 18. I'm now down to 209. The first month was rough. It was hard getting down enough water and protein, my blood pressure was low and I felt tired and light headed all the time. I sometimes wondered if I made the right decision. At 5 weeks everything turned around. My energy went up, blood pressure normalized and I got used to my supplement schedule.
I am 38 and have been on and off diets since I was 12. Just before surgery, I saw a psychologist for a few visits to get my head in the right place for success. This is the first time in my life that I can remember not fixating on food from regrets for what I had eaten to planning what I would eat next.
Now I eat when and what I am supposed to and that's it. I get hungry but I don't have the compulsive need to eat and graze all day.
I have been on two trips since surgery, one week to Orlando and a week at an all inclusive. I was able to stick to plan and still lost while away.
I can now walk up stairs without my knees cracking. My fingers shrunk so I can wear my wedding rings again. I have confidence to go out and do physical activities that I would have been to embarrassed to try. I plan on joining a dragon boat team in the spring.
The wait for surgery can be lengthy but it is well worth it in the end.
Happy 3 month surgiversary! You are doing so well Green_limes!! Walking up stairs without actively dying and wearing my wedding rings again are the 2 things I am most looking forward to!

Congratulations!!
The first month can be difficult... we "feel" ok but I think our body is working so hard to recover from major surgery... and a vastly different approach to eating. It took me a while, close to two months to get my energy back, and I really relate.
You're doing superbly!! Such an inspiring post. Thanks for sharing. :)
Keep on keeping on!!
