St. Michael's
Hello all...first post...feeling a little nervous. I completed the surgical education class today for Toronto and was told I would have surgery at St. Michael's. There seems to be very little information on the forums about the doctors there/hospital and I'm a bit nervous about that. Any one have some experiences to share - good or bad?
Awaiting the call to actually meet the surgeon so do not know who I will be assigned to. I have completed all the required meetings with everyone else so yayyy for that.
don't know anything about St. Michaels, but Congrats and WELCOME!!!

I had surgery at St Mikes with Dr Rotstein. Loved him!!! The hospital is older and was under Reno's when I was there last January. It's a great hospital. Have had no real issues.

Oh! Good to know...I was becoming a little concerned because the more RNY procedures they've performed the better and was worried that in comparison maybe not many are done there. Glad that you had a positive experience. Do you know if they only have ward rooms? My insurance will pay for the upgrade to semi-private or private but unsure if that is even an option or if they only have ward beds because it's an older hospital.
I did not have bariatric surgery there but I had other surgeries and care at St. Mike's. It is an old hospital but compared to my stays at Mt. Sinai, Sunnybrook and Humber (all fancy new hospitals) St. Mikes is by far the best.
The staff are incredible and more than make up for the dated infrastructure. Their doctors are top-notch as they are Toronto's main trauma centre. You will be in good hands :)
