Pills after surgery question
on 12/15/17 3:52 pm
I am just a week over post op RNY. I am a it behind most people at the point but there is a good reason for it.
My question is... I have 2 prescription I have to take every day. They are each the size of a small pea. I have a horrible time talking them crushed up. They are not chewable or liquid. I have tried severa wausbto make it more pleasant and my mind rejects the idea before they even get to my mouth and I am gagging. At post op one week and one day can I take these yet with out crushing?
At this point I am getting in my daily water easy and I am getting in around 70 grams of protein a day. That part is going great.
I have been told to stick to Tea, Shakes, water and sugar free pop' until my follow up on Monday. I had some issues some issues so they wantnto be safe. Wait did I just answers my own question? Crap. Lol
Sorry for errors. On my phone
Penny
I also think you should swallow them whole.

Century Club and Onederland in month 7!!
When I was in the hospital post op, the nurses were crushing my meds and making me swallow them with only a medicine cup of water and it was awful. The surgeon came in and noticed and gave them heck and told me that as long as I cut the pills into pieces smaller than a dime, I could just swallow the pieces without crushing them.
Your situation may be different because you said you had issues, so maybe call your surgeon to ask?
Congrats on your surgery; so sorry that you had issues.
