Hunger gone after surgery?

I feel hungry if I eat too many carbs. Even so called "good carbs", like fruits or starchy veggies.

When I follow low carb diet - I don't get very hungry.

My hunger depends on my diet.

I am three months post op, and I don't often feel hungry. If I go too long between eating, I can "tell" I need to eat... more than I "feel" hungry.

Sometimes, though, hunger hits, and other times, craving**** I'm still working on learning the difference between the two!! Mind and body for me are so intertwined... so I always think about what have I eaten lately, how long since I've eaten, what am I hungry for (protein? likely hunger... something else? likely a craving, and I'll drink my water!).

I am only 3 months out, but i have a hard time eating because i dont feel hungry i have to force myself to eat. but that is only my experience. and if i dont eat SUPER slow i feel full very quickly.

I may not be there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday!

No, this is not true, at all.

Most people have six months to a year where they feel very little hunger, but it almost always comes back. Hunger is a very complex mechanism, both physical, medical, and emotional. There is no magic hormone that controls it all.

I am 6 weeks post op and have felt hunger. It's not as gnawing and strong as it was preop- that's fr sure. Some days I can go hours without eating (by accident if I'm out) but I felt light headed and had no energy. I had to stop and eat.

Head hunger has always been my enemy!! Grrrrrrrr...

I has gastric bypass 11-1/2 years ago and still do not ever feel hungry. In fact, I forgot what the sensation feels like. My wife, on the other hand, had surgery about 2 years ago and feels hunger. Guess everyone is different.

For those that don't feel hungry or not much, do you still have that extra sensitive sense of smell when you haven't eaten? I know right now as I am still waiting if I am hungry the smell of food is a lot stronger

I think head hunger stays-- for me emotionally driven.... but real hunger is the question I guess.

I will do more investigation but from what I understand it is head.
