Postponed surgery

Twh NP said because of my low iron (really low) it is best to move my last appts closer to surgery time (Spring). She also said that TWH is backlogged and they probably will not be doing my surgery until summer anyways so there is no issue. It's disappointing but the way I have been physically feeling it's sort of a relief. I am under family DR care so I should be ok soon. They only perscribed supplements so I guess I have to wait. :(

Definitely best to get yourself to optimal health first. The wait is definitely a killer. Hang in there girl. ((Hugs))

I agree with OAAT, you need to be as healthy as possible. and its great that you are under your doctors care. you will get there. i know it seems like forever but you will do it.

keep patient and keep caring for yourself.

Hugs

I may not be there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday!

Ah! That's a real bummer, but that is so great that you are listening to your body and that you recognize that you need to wait until you feel better. (I couldn't do it - so impatient!!). Anyway I hope you are feeling better soon and your time will be here before you know it.

look into switching to feramax or proferrin it will bring your iron up way faster then the iron salts that they tell you to take. They are more expensive but they are worth every penny your iron will come up way quicker and it wont cause stomach upset like the others do.

Hi, my only question about Feramax is can we take the capsule? I'm 6 weeks post op. Thanks!

yes feramax or proferrin is the best absorbed iron after our gastric bypass. For best absorption you should be opening the capsule, the powder inside is dark brown but it has zero flavour and will not stain your teeth. Some people add it into drinks such as a protein shake or water, or tea / coffee. I add mine into unsweetened apple sauce, yogurt. Depending on how low your iron might be you might need 1-3 capsules a day they must be spaced out about 4 hours between each dose & it WILL NOT interfer with calcium absorption like the other iron salts / forms so it can be taken at the same time.

its definitely a bummer, but surgery takes so much out of you that you really do need to go into it as healthy as possible. Good luck, before you know it this will all be a memory and you will be post-op. It really does go faster than you think.
