Optifast and tummy pain

First, I one of those freaks who loves the Optifast shakes. Yes, even the vanilla. I know, I am weird. I love having my shake in cold water on the way to the gym. In the evening I blend with ice. I have been doing this for 4 weeks. Almost 5. As some of you know I was suppose to only be on for 3 weeks but Hamilton had some bed issues and pushed me back to Dec 7th. Oye Vey!

But starting yesterday morning I started to get stomach pains when I drink my shakes or eat my raw veggies. The pains send me running to the bathroom every time. It is like my body wants to practice for the real thing! Ironic? Flu? Stomach is mad at me and revolting? My digestion system kicks in with a vengeance?

I just find it kind of funny and painful. You didn't get surgery yet silly stomach!

Did anyone have this happen?

Obviously I would talk to the clinic about it but I find it odd that it would start after this long. Normally if it is something that bugs the stomach, you would notice it early. Have you gone off the diet within the past week or so? You may possibly have a bit of keto flu if that is the case.

(I also really liked the shakes)

You've been eating a lot of raw veggies which are more difficult to digest. Ask your clinic if you can cook the veggies first.

Oh no. That sounds awful. I agree with gbears. Call your clinic. And also, maybe it's the raw veggies.

Lastly, I think in a previous post you said you weren't going to have lean protein. Are you having any? If you have cut down to less than 5 Opti a day, and are just having veg, then you may not be getting the proper dietary requirements.

Def call your clinic, see if you can speak to the dietitian and get some advice. Good luck!

Yes another good friend suggested it was the veggies as ell so that is three. Tomorrow I will call and steam or boil the veggies. I am also far from constipated. This is I thought maybe a bug.

It' odd how it just started.

Oops. Clearly I meant 4 Opti in my previous post... not 5 a day!!!!

But I think you're only doing 2 a day now right? And meant to supplement with food? Veggies may not be enough.

Also, when I was doing Opti, I found I started having bowel irregularities. Adding 1 teaspoon of Benefibre to each shake fixed that for me.

Yes I understood you. Lol

I was doing two and then low at and low sugar carbs dinners but... It started to mess with my day and I was more hungry and it was harder so I went back to the origial.

It was better today. I slowed down. Still was some discomfort but not the last two days. Also instead of large raw veggies I switched to very chopped up salad with small black olives and small chicken chunks. So far no issues.
