Getting back to basics
So my little man will be here in 5 weeks or less (YIKES!!) and i need to get back to basics when hes born
i plan on doing liquids for a few days 3-4 max) to detox (shakes and broth essentially) and then i need to start tracking food again including measurments. Water is no issue and still drinking decaf coffee. Technically im 11 months out buuuuuut got pregnant 3 months out. What tips would you give? Ive had no choice but to increase calories because of the baby. Typical day is oatmeal, premier shake, chickpea salad, yogurt and fruit, some type of bean or something for dinner or cottage cheese with veggies, another shake, then the kicker two cookies or some popcorn for the extra calories (approved by the dietician!!!) i dont eat meat of any kind eggs or fish and dont drink milk but will use it in shakes and stuff.
Looking forward to hearing everyones thoughts!!
PS - if youre going to bash or comment negatively on the fact that i got pregnant 3 months out or am eating too much or not the right stuff dont even bother commenting

My concern for you going to liquids etc. Is that your body is going to be healing from having a baby. It's a big deal. Are you planning on breastfeeding? If so you'll need to keep up your caloric intake to produce enough milk and keep your own body healthy. I think it's a smart idea to be thinking about this now as you'll likely be so exhausted you will have a harder time making good choices.
I know you want to get things going again but it might be better to take some time and heal before jumping back into it. I know you didn't expect to be in this position but then you never thought you'd have a baby either. Totally worth it but you definitely need to take care of yourself.
Good luck,
Karen
I do plan on breastfeeding and will continue to see the dietician.. but you raise a great point!!! Ill take that into consideration

When I had my daughter I felt amazing after. She was 5 weeks premature and tiny and my labour was 2 hours long, drug free etc...I mean I argued with having to sit in a wheelchair I just felt that good. After we were home I went for long walks and did whatever I wanted. And I paid for it. My bleeding got very heavy and my body had to tell me to take a seat. It takes a lot out of you physically and emotionally. But so, so worth it.
As of today he is transverse and quite comfy so it looks like im heading for ancsection. My mother in law will be here so that will help!!!!

I would not stress your body out by doing liquids for a few days after the baby is born. That could just run you down and make you feel like crap.
What was your plan for protein if you don't eat any type of meat, eggs, fish or milk before you got pregnant?
Do you know what your current iron/ferritin level is?
