Intoducing Myself

Hi. My name is Courtney and I've been lurking here for a little while but hardly dared to think of introducing myself because I am so new to this journey. I am a single mum to a gorgeous daughter living in Ottawa. I have only been to the first introduction meeting, where they explain the procedure and tell you what's required, that's how new to this journey I am.

I'm super morbidly obese. And that was hard to type out the words. I'm scared of this surgery and yet I am committed to it. I am in remission for ovarian cancer and can't stand the thought that it could return because I am so fat. I also struggle with depression but am stable with my meds. I can't go on like this. I want to live. I am 298 pounds or 135kgs with a BMI of 51.

I find reading your posts so uplifting and educational. I hope to emulate your success stories.

Courtney / Ceylon Sapphire.

Hello Courtney!

Glad to have you with us. We all start like you are. You made a decision to do something about it and that shows how strong you are.

I have had a ovary lost to something similar and it just zapped my metabolism on top of weight issues already present at the time. I get it. I am glad you are here!

I'm going through the civic weight management system. I didn't even know there was another route called BMI. My GP put me through a lot of blood tests already, so I have no idea when I get to take the next step.

I went through the Civic as well. I would recommend calling them to confirm they received all of the results from blood work your Doctor had done. They didn't have mine and didn't tell me so I was delayed for almost 2 months.
