Mixed Emotions - round two!

Just like everyone, once I got my date I have been planning, packing, cleaning and making sure my family was set as well for my surgery date, Nov 22nd. You get emotionally ready, physically read and drive everyone around you a little crazy.

I did the 3 weeks Opti and on day two of fluids because tomorrow is the big day.... at my sister in laws visiting to killing time. Then it happened.

The phone call....All the beds are full in Hamilton St Joes and they are closing the OR unless it is life threatening. Understandable. I have been bumped to Dec 7th.

So many mixed emotions. I resisted pigging out so that's good but I almost feel numb. Yes, I know it will come fast. I know there is a reason for everything. Yes, I know I am lucky to still have the opportunity but I feel like a kid that just had her favorite you taken away. How silly is that.

Back on Opti I go but I am aloud healthy, low carb and low fat dinners. What' two more weeks?! FOREVER! not really but my sarcasm has go come through a little. I am still grateful but mixed up a little.

I will just have to wait for round two.

Oh that is sooo disappointing the day before your surgery. Good for you for not turning to food! December 7th isn't too far away. At least they are allowing you some real food in the interim.

Oh Penny, if you could see me now, I am sitting here with my mouth wide open, totally flabbergasted. That is unbelievable. I am so sorry.

Inhave to say, you are handling it way better than I would have. I really am sorry you got this delay.

What i can promise you is everything happens for a reason... who knows why, and 3 months and 6 months and 1 years etc, this will all be such a distant memory, and the two week delay will be so irrelevant.

Congratulations to you for handling it so well, for staying on track... you are proving over and over again your readiness and your maturity. (((Hugs)))

As I said to the girl on the phone. It is not your fault and it is beyond every ones on control. She felt so horrible and you could hear it in her voice.

Yes everything happens for a reason and it is a small period of time. It will just take me a day to regroup the plan in my mind. Reschedule my husbands days off.

The hardest part is I was suppose to return to school on Dec 5th. Oh well. I keep reminding myself it will all work out.

I'm really sorry this has happened to you. That's pretty rough. Like D. said, I don't think I would be handling it as well as you are!

I'm a little confused as to what happened at St. Joe's though. (I was there as well). There are no beds and they are not taking any patients unless it is life threatening? Is this right? What the hell? How can this happen? There must be a lot of sick people in Hamilton at the moment then.

Again, so sorry...but I have a feeling you are a strong woman and you are going to make it above and beyond surgery. In two more weeks you will be on your way.

Yes that's what they said. All the beds are full and they are canceling the OR floor unless it is a life threatening issue. I am not sure whats going on more then that but I would not want to be the girl that called me today. She was very sorry.

Plus side is that Dr Gmora has me booked first thing on the 7th so I am the first one he is doing that day. We shall see how it plays out.
