Another timing question

So, I've had my orientation and am excited to continue the journey. I was a little concerned with the planning the times to be off work for all the appointments. How much notice are you usually given for appointments? I'm waiting for the call for my first surgeon appt and I'm wondering when they call if they tell you it's the following week or more like next month? I just want to know what to expect.

Thanks!!

for me I had about 3 weeks notice for most of my appointments. As for the surgeon, that won?t be for awhile if you only had your orientation last month. Usually once you meet the surgeon you have surgery in 4-8 weeks. It really depends where you live. I suggest adding a more detailed signature to your forum posts. It helps out a lot when asking others for advice :)

Hi, thanks for that. I am going through Humber in Toronto. I was told my first appointment after the orientation was my first meeting with the surgeon. Maybe the process looks a little different in different hospitals?

Yes you are correct each centre has a different process and yes I believe Humber sees surgeon near the beginning before trio appointments and I believe you meet surgeon at the end too. There are many who have gone through Humber on here and I am sure someone will be able to answer you.

Good luck.. . And although it seems like a long process it goes by quicker then you think.

I went through Humber, you will have lots of notice, months likely.

I was given all of my appointment dates at the previous appointment, with the exception of the internist, Dr. Glazer. You will have to call his office directly to book. This is usually done after seeing the surgeon and finishing yout trio appointments (social worker, nurse, dietician).

I am going through Humber. I had 3 weeks notice for the surgeon appointment, at the surgeon appointment they gave me the dates for the trio. My only issue so far is booking the internist. I was told to call if they hadn't called me in 2 weeks, I have left 4 messages in the last month and still no call back to book appointment. This is not a fast process. Good luck!
