Warning!! May be TMI for some folks. I Just need to vent more than anything but it really burns me bum that I can't progress forward without some ailment pulling me backwards.

I've been dealing with a Skin disorder (Hydradentis supporativa) for years. I was hoping things would get better with the weight loss but in fact it's getting worse as the area resides on my upper inside thighs (Groin). The extra skin now is not helping with the Rubbing/irritation.

As a result, I can't walk, Ride a bike or essentially exercise as I was doing while this issue is flared up.

That said, My weight is still hovering between 283 and 286 but again, I will have to claim a stall for this month. :-(

So frustrating but still, I have hope to reach a Point where I won't have to look back on any of this and can one day simply live my life with my new gift.

So maybe I do have a question for the folks out there.... Any thoughts on having my immune system suppressed in order to combat my condition. Risks with Bariatric patients? From what I read, the treatment is similar to what Cancer and/or Organ Transplant Patients get which does frighten me a tad.

The good news is once things are dried up and clear of symptoms, I will have the scare tissue removed. IN this case the bonus of extra skin will allow that to happen much more easily and I get my thighs reduced :-)

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. I understand what it's like to live with a chronic condition and have trouble getting the right treatment, or any treatment. It's debilitating, exhausting, depressing... and we try so hard to do the right thing for our health, and things keep going wrong.

Keep persevering. You've come so far, you're doing so well. A stall is just that, and like you said, maybe they will remove the skin as part of treatment. I don't have any answers for you, but I sure will keep my fingers crossed for you.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this Wayne; I can understand the frustration.

I don't know anything about immune suppression. Good luck, and get well soon.

Thanks Kathy. Yes I know you have had many of your own setbacks. I'll get past this, I'm just more frustrated with not being able to keep up my well established exercise plan. I havn't been in the gym for 2 months :-(

Would aloe vera gel help with the irritation? Just a thought. Are you going to see a dermatologist?

Hi Smoka,

I have used several creams, even a few prescribed. None work. The last one prescribed to me included Peroxide/bleach. All it did was bleach out our new Bedding sheets :-( Wife is not happy but laughs all the same. She's a trooper as she is a huge help to me with applying dressings.

Yes I am now seeing a dermatologist, She ordered all these tests I have to get done now prior to treatment.

First things out of her mouth were "get the Shingles Vaccine and Twinrix shots now". So that's happening next week while we wait for all the blood work and xrays to find their way back to her.

Emu Oil might help. It's really good for skin irritations.

Wayne, there is a new shingles vaccine coming out in January. The current vaccine is only a 5 year vaccine, and people are only allowed to get it once in a lifetime. The new one is a boostered vaccine so it should be for life. It's for people 50 and over, so will be OHIP covered at a younger age.

You may want to ask you doctor about it before getting one now... if you can hold off a couple of months.

Here's the info for the new med:

I don't have any advice - not familiar with this condition but I just wanted to send you a virtual hug and tell you to get better soon.. How do you have your immune system suppressed? I need to google this all.

After googling it - that looks very painful and I'm not sure about risks of the immune suppression drugs. What is your doctors advice on this. You must be really frustrated that you can't walk or ride your bike.
