Frustrated

Just a little rant here.

I haven't received my intake package yet. And I was referred in September. I was being patient knowing it can be up to 6 weeks.

But I called my Drs office today. My referral was Sept 1. Called my Centre, and they said the package was mailed Sept 5.

It must have gotten lost in the mail. SO FRUSTRATING!!! DANG IT CANADA POST! I finally got the guts do this and I know its a long process, but when its something outside the system it just makes me want to pull my hair out!

Ok rant over. Have a good day all!

Hello & congratulations on taking the plunge.

It takes time and patience during the beginning of this process. It will take time to get in to the information session. Once you start you will be amazed at how quickly you sail through it.

Relax and try to be patient....

Call the weight management centre every once and a while to touch base.

Good luck!

Hi Erin,

I know how frustrating it can be. Sudbury seems to have such a different process. Keep on them even though this was out of their control. I have been frustrated with them. I had orientation in Sept. I was told I will not even get in till Feb 18 to have my initial appointments. I have seen others on here get through the process and have surgery in that time. I have been very proactive and got all tests done and have worked on my goals for months. Many of them long before i decided to have surgery.

The info packet has a lot of questionaires some are quite invasive. There is also a questionaire and list for your doctor to fill out. There is a questionaire called stop bang. If you get a score over 3 (i think) you will require a sleep test. I hope you get your info packet soon. Expect orientation to take all day.

Good luck to you and congrats on taking the first step!

Hi Erin,

The one thing I learned throughout this journey is that we have to be the ones to follow-up and we are our own best advocates. My package also went to a neighbour with the same last name and I was unaware that I had missed my orientation until they phoned me to tell me so. I lost two months right there. I was also given the go-ahead by everyone other than the nurse practitioner who had forgotten to sign me off because she was awaiting results she already had.

Our healthcare team members are, for the most part, caring and committed - also busy and mistakes do happen. Even if it takes a weekly or biweekly call to confirm results, appointments, etc., do so. It is frustrating, but now that you know what can happen, you can prevent it from occurring again.

All the best as you continue your journey.

Hi Erin, that sounds so frustrating. I'm sorry.

When you called your centre, did you confirm which address they sent it to? Also, did you ask what your orientation date is scheduled for?

If not, call them back and ask tomorrow. Get informed, take control. This is your process and you have a right to the information.

Best of luck!

I had a bit of a similar experience my referral was sent at the end of July 2017 and I just had my Orientation yesterday. I was getting worried at the beginning of October when I didn't received my package and called. Luckily for me I did because they had mailed it out to the wrong address. I finally got my package last Friday, so only a few days before my session. I did ask on the phone for the date so I was already prepared to take the day off work for the orientation. Good luck and yes I'm learning that patience is needed.
