Packing my hospital bag

What are some tips on what to and what not to pack for the hospital

I brought a lot of stuff that I didn't need.
A change of clothes to bring home, a pair of your own slippers so you don't have to wear their little paper boots, a pillow of your own for the drive home (to hold against your stomach) and an extra long cord for charging your phone.
I was alone in my room though, if you aren't I'd recommend some ear plugs or maybe some earbuds + soothing music so you can tune out your roommate.
Everything Anny said is perfect. That is a list of exactly the things I used. Maybe add lip balm as my lips got dry.

Congratulations, so exciting!
I packed a change of clothing, clean undies and socks for 3 days (thank goodness as they kept me an extra day), toiletries, dry shampoo, dry mouth spray, a travel pillow to hold against my incision when I moved, a book, my laptop, and phone, plus charger. I used it all. I couldn't sleep because of the noise in the hospital and I binge watched Supernatural on Netflix.
Pre-Op Visit: Jan. 10, 2017, weight 304, surgeon: Dr. David Lindsay, St. Joe's, Toronto
1st Day of (3 weeks worth of) Optifast: Jan. 11, 2017
Surgery Date: Feb. 1st, 2017
Kathy
Congratulations on your upcoming surgery!!!
Things that haven't been said...
I brought an extension cord to plug in my phone charger and earbud charger. The plug is so far away!
I also brought clothes to change into right after surgery: track pant capris and a tank top, since I didn't want to stay in the hospital gown.
Of course, toothbrush and toothpaste. :)
Good luck in Friday! No doubt it'll be great.

Century Club and Onederland in month 7!!
Ear plugs and a sleeping mask. The first night was fine but the second night I had a roommate who had just had a knee replacement. She was in a ton of pain and the nurses checked on her every 30 minutes, even through the night. In the morning a technician came in to take some blood and couldn't figure out why I couldn't hear her ;) That reminds me, when she left she put up the railing on the side of the bed. I didn't know how to get it back down from in the bed so I had to call the nurse to rescue me. I was about two minutes away from climbing the railing to get to the bathroom!!
