icky but true

Good morning,

I'm sorry and can only imagine how hard it is to cope with the vomiting and nausea. I ate too much once and some came up - but it wasn't really vomiting - sort of just an overflow valve that needed to be released (sorry). I still drink one protein shake a day (during the work week only) and if I'm on the run, may have half a Premier protein bar. I was told that 60 to 80 grams of protein a day was fine and I should up my carbs. I'm still going for 80+ grams (especially now on the CAMAW plan) and continue to make protein the star of my meal. My bowels are now more regular and I continue to drink lots during the day.

Eating slower is still a challenge for me, although I find using the 1/2 cup tupperware bowls or child size works well for me. When it's done, I'm done.

Continue to listen to your pouch and strive. I know it will be a continual challenge.

All the best.

Ok so here is a stupid question.... if you vomit when you overeat how do people gain weight again???

i think if you eat too much too often or the wrong things you will manage, or iff you graze. OH the dreaded grazing.

Oh no. That sounds awful.

I was a pretty slow eater even pre-surgery. Now I'm just stupid-slow! I think it's really important to carve out time to eat slowly. I think my pouch would retaliate if I tried to eat quickly.

I'm often grateful when I eat with a group that my portion is so small because it takes me more time to eat my little amount than everyone else to eat their normal size meal!!

The struggle is real when you're working. You must find a way to take the breaks you require and to space out your meals more than 2 hours apart. I don't know what kind of work you do, but if you ever want to brainstorm it, let me know... :)

I get it. Managing a busy schedule can be really tough. I am self employed, and was back at work 4 days after surgery because if I don't work, I don't get paid. September has been my busiest month all year, and October has been tracking to surpass it. I'll never complain about that though... I'm in this to work!!

But, it does make it harder to balance meals, recover, etc. I find I eat at my desk, don't always get breakfast, or sometimes have lunch at two pm. It can be harder when I'm on the road too. I am working on strategies to be organized so I minimize this. I am really eager to get to solid food, as I think this will make it easier, but I know the battle is mine to tackle regardless.

I remember once reading someone who packed her lunch even though she worked from home. I thought it was brilliant.

Are you allowed to eat at your desk? I'm sure people have great suggestions for you if you start a new post for "non-refrigerated meal ideas" to eat at your desk. Lunch bags with ice packs, thermoses to keep food hot or cold can help too. I know it's hard... it'll get easier. We can both do it! We didn't go through all this to let hectic work schedules get in our way. :)
