icky but true
This is icky but in the name of forewarning people i feel i should mention. everyone's pouch is different but mine does not like fast eating.
i have been trying to get all my protein through food. however it meant that i ate my lunch and dinner within about 2 hours of each other. that was not wise. that was 3 days ago. and i was so sick. like vomiting sick. no good right.
so the next night i decide, again i need protein so i think i will try to eat more. again pouch was super unhappy with my decision. vomiting up a ton.
so post surgery be forewarned vomiting and nausea and awful feelings can happen. before that i didnt feel full very much. occasionally. usually if i ate too fast and then i would feel full after. but this, this was just dreadful.
EAT SLOW> take your time.
(drink the stupid shakes. )
Dont be me.
be smart

Great advice. I know by portioning out my food that even though I don't feel super "full" that I've eaten enough. I can fini**** all but know that's my limit even if my brain is wishing I had more. I too would love to get all my protein from food but it's going to take a long time before that's my reality. Even if I've been lucky enough so far to not have dumping. Key is not to pu**** Thanks for the candid reminder!

Yep it is a hard pill to swallow, kind of like the vitamins lol,
but you still need shakes and bars at this stage. mostly shakes

That doesn't sound like fun at all, but I guess there was a lesson to be learned. Sorry !
I also have had a similar experience trying to get all my protein in from food and eating myself sick. I quickly realized that it's just not worth it , so I am staying on the shakes until I can consume enough food to comfortably get my protein in from food without feeling overwhelmed.
Besides I enjoy my 1 protein shake daily.
So many twists and turns pre, and post op.
Feel better fast.

Thanks that makes me feel better that someone else has tried this all food protein thing and had less than steller results
and thanks for the well wishes

I have lucked out so far. In Hamilton we don't have a pureed stage so I was a little worried about how the eating would go. I planned it out that my meals are small and I make sure there is protein going in every 2 hours. I have breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack. That spans 10 hours of my day and about 2.5 of that is eating. I do drink up to my meal time and try to go the 30min after withou****er. I am a sipper though so at most with a drink (a few sips) I am getting the 30-50mls in. So far *knock on wood* this has worked for me. It has also helped having a system because I don't feel hungry and could probably go the day without eating.

That sounds horrible. I would expect that after the surgery vomiting would be very painful and hard on your pouch.
