Welcome!

I think a timeline might depend on the waitlist for the tests you need to complete. I started Jan 2016 and I am done but for the surgery itself. Waiting for that phone call.

These people and this site is very supportive.

Welcome again. Glad you are here.

Thanks everyone for your messages. I appreciate the warm welcome :) Does anyone think that there is a triage like priority system where those who are a presenting a higher risk factor get priority? It seems to make sense that further tests will take extra time but the feedback from people seems to be that even without additional testing or appointments there is a varying timeline. I'll do my best to be patient regardless as soak up all of what I need to learn!

Congratulations, and welcome, Amanda. Some people are able to move up the line faster by calling for cancellations.

Congrats on getting an orientation date! I'm also going through Humber, and so far it's been 18 months since my referral. I'm still waiting to attend my trio/internist appointments and to get the final go-ahead to schedule surgery. It was about a year from my orientation until I got the call to meet the surgeon for the first time (I'm with Dr. Huynh). I have no idea why it was such a long delay, my only guess is that I was low-priority since I'm a relative light-weight and have no comorbidities... but that's all conjecture and I don't really know what happened. I'm just hoping that my surgery date will be before the 2 year mark, but we'll see!

Welcome!

The time line varies so much within the province. If I was going to give you an average I would say 12-18 months; however there are people who have surgery in under a year too.

From start to fini**** was 11 months for me.

I would reach out to people going through humber, that would probably be a more accurate time line. Some centers seems to be faster than others, or depends on the time of year.

Good luck with your journey! And feel free to ask as many questions, that's why we are here!

Orientation April 2016 - Final approvals December 2016. Surgical Class January 23, 2017. Met with Dr. Reed February 7, 2017. Opti start date March 1, 2017. Surgery March 15, 2017 (Dr. Foute-Nelong).
