Home again and liquid diet!

Hi again everyone! I got home yesterday afternoon (Yay for one night hospital stays, am I right?), and spent most of it sleeping (between the CPAP and my roommate constantly setting off her IV monitor I got maybe 4 hours while I was there). I think all together I slept about 12 hours, and now I'm feeling pretty great all things considered.

I just had about a third of my first protein shake, and am taking a break since I'm starting to feel pretty full, but otherwise I'm doing just fine. It feels like it's going to take all day to drink those two shakes at this rate, but I guess that'll get better with time as the swelling goes down?? I don't want to over do it, so I'm taking things slowly and figuring out what pouchie's able to handle.

Hope you're all doing well!

Congratulations on your surgery, Kayla, and so glad you're home again.

I remember it used to take me about 4 hours to get through one shake. It was like a full time job at first, trying to get 2 shakes and all of my water in. I had to wake up early and stay up late to get all my water in.

You're right though, it does get easier in time.

Take care

Welcome home Kayla! That's great you're out of the hospital already. Being home is the best. :)

It took me a while to be able to get down a protein shake and all my water. Have patience with yourself. Stay hydrated. Drink as often as you can.

It sounds like you're doing great!!

Congratulations on being home! It took me from about 7am to 9/930pm to be able to get down both shakes at the start. Basically your healing time is going to be filled with sipping, walking, sipping, napping/watching TV/reading, sipping, going to the bathroom and sipping. Don't forget to keep walking every hour and moving your hands and feet every 30 minutes that you are awake. Feels like a horrible idea but you will feel better after each walk.
