Surgery date
So I met the surgeon today and got my optifast. I was told it was a 6-8 week wait for surgery. Then I got a call that if the surgeon agrees and I can have surgery on 2.5 weeks as they have an opening. So I started optifast tonight. I'm so excited and so scared all at the same time. Eeek. Tips and tricks for optifast and post op would be appreciated :)

Congrats on the up coming surgery.
My only advice for Opti is have it cold. Some people put flavourings in, and that would be up to you.
Good luck with your surgery!

Congratulations!
Opti isn't fun, but definitely doable! I bought half chocolate half vanilla. I drank my serving of broth each day, it really helped cut the sweetness. I bought a veggie broth. Not sure why, but chicken or beef icked me out for some reason at that time. My plan included a serving of sugar free jello too. I would save that for evenings, or if a wave of hunger really hit in the early days.
dont be shy to remove yourself from certain food situations if need be. It's temporary.
good luck!

Congratulations, Jeannie, so exciting! I remember feeling both scared and excited too.
I used a 500 ml bottle of ice water and about 6 ice cubes with my Opti, all mixed together in a large shaker bottle. I could fit all but 1 sip of the ice water in the shaker bottle with the opti and ice as my bottle wasn't quite big enough.
Some people like adding sugar free flavorings to the Opti but I liked it best plain. Vanilla was my favourite but chocolate wasn't bad.
If I were doing it now, I'd try some pumpkin pie spice in my vanilla Opti. I put it in my vanilla premier protein mixed with decaf every day and it's so good.
I avoided family dinners and tried to stay away food areas as best I could to avoid temptation. I had home made soup broth every day, and was lucky as I was also allowed 1 cup of veggies a day (celery, carrots, broccoli, green peppers were on my list; nothing else). I did the veggies in a roasting pan so I'd have something warm to eat in addition to soup, as I was on Opti in winter and always felt cold.
