Good for you getting through it. the latest heat has been hard on a lot of people. but you sound like you are strong and will get through it and ready for surgery

Good luck

I may not be there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday!

Interesting, I've never heard of doing 2 days of clear fluid BEFORE surgery. At TWH you do Opti right up until the night before surgery. Weird how all the centres are so different.

Good luck with the next 2 days and also with your surgery :)

I know right? It was written on the sheet so I specifically asked about it and yes, I'm supposed to drink one glass of clear sugary drink. They even suggested Sprite or 7up. Carbonated!

The nurse said that after the opti-fast diet they want sugar levels up.

Hi gbears

I found the clear fluids to be not terrible. I dreaded it, but when I was doing it I was fine. I ate jello and had a lot of broth. The hard part was the day of surgery. I had nothing since 10pm the night before and my surgery was at 3 pm. So I was feeling pretty hungry by about noon. Since surgery I haven't had any hunger pangs which is good because at st joes hamilton, I was (and you will be) NPO for the first 12-24 hours. Then you star****er for Another half day. So you don't have much for several days.... I hope your surgery goes as you hope and recovery goes well. Julie
