Yes... I understand some people use it I wasn?t being preachy -sorry...just that I have to look at things the way I was told to look at it from a Nutrition professor at University of Toronto she said look at the foods try to have foods that have not been chemically altered and products with less than 5 ingredients. She recommended an 90/10 diet which is 90% healthy foods and 10% what you would call not so healthy foods. By the way...I just found out that those little baby carrots we buy .. doused with bleach and chlorine that kind of freaked me out! Organic foods are beginning to be a bit more reasonably priced now.. buying local always great.. and following the dirty dozen/ clean fifteen is a good start.

No worries, I didn't think you were being preachy. I just wanted to share some info. :)

I've recently switched from regular sugar to coconut sugar. It's lower on the glycemic index and has small amounts of nutrients like iron, calcium, etc. The calories are about the same, but I recommend it for anyone who's using table sugar. I haven't had surgery yet so I'm not too sure how I would react to coconut sugar, but I thought I would throw the idea out there :P

For most of us, Splenda is the best tasting sweetener and the cheapest and most available. i just don't want people to get scared and go back to table sugar. Splenda is safe. That crazy stuff on Facebook is not a reason for someone to fail at their surgery.

I agree, and having worked in the food industry...there will always be umpteen dozen "studies" on either side of any debate. It comes down to the individual. We each need to do our own due diligence and decide for ourselves what we are willing to or not willing to put into our bodies.

I am reading this thread with my hands over my eyes.... I know anything artificial is bad and I have tried so many things like stevia to break my habit of sucking down artificial sweeteners. By the end of the day I have exceeded the quota they all state you would have to take in before it causes cancer. And multiply it by 50 years or so I am so done.
