3 month check up

Went into TOH for my 3 month check up with the dietician/nutritionist. I am down to 215.5lbs, I feel like a new person; the NSVs are so much more important than the scale.

The original dietician I met with was Tori but apparently she has since left. I met with Jennifer and a dietician student, also Jennifer. HAHAHA. We did the weigh in, talked about all of the NSVs and then moved to food journals.

For anyone not aware, there is a lady from the US that has made a business of developing meal plans, grocery lists and recipes that are all bariatric safe. There is a charge to receive these and other benefits but I pay $20US per month and it is BEYOND worth it.

That said, I brought my binder that I have made with the different meal plans, lists and recipes. When Jennifer asked for my journals I gave her the binder. She took a photocopy of one of the meal plans and inspected everything very thoroughly. She was super impressed and, aside from some continued IBS issues, said that she is not scheduling a followup due to the success.

I was ecstatic when I left because I was not sure if I was doing things correctly. I thought maybe I was consuming too many calories, that I was eating too much food or that I was working my way pack to the old ways. One more fear soothed.

That's great news Jackie! You are doing so well, and there's something awesome about going to a doctor appointment that you don't dread - because the changes in your life are all positive now!

Would you mind PMing me your resource for the bariatric meal plans? Sounds like a great resource.

Thanks for your reply... Yes it is nice to finally go to the Dr or any medically related appointment with more confidence.

Im just starting my journey as well, waiting for my surgury date at TOH as well.

Would love to have the name of the lady who does those meal plans !

Hey... There are people in the Ottawa Area on this site that meet monthly IRL. There are people who are pre op, post op, unsure etc. It is really great to have that physical support system too. We meet next October 16, 6:30pm at Second Cup on Merivale across the parking lot from Metro.
