Post op recommendations
What are some must have items and some "nice to have" items.
I have stocked up on premier protein premade shakes, and have tested them to make sure I like them. I also have small plates and bowls to help with portion control. What are some other things that you liked having immediately post op and for the few months afterwards. I have heard of people buying bariatric tupperware, any thoughts on that?
Thanks :)

Pyrex pyrex pyrex--- since it's really bad to microwave in plastic, I purchased 1 to 2 cup Pyrex ... with lids for soup and pureed food storage. Let's face it from what I've heard a tablespoon is pretty much what you're gonna be eating so I figured why not store it comfortably and safely in the refrigerator in glass which is microwaveable if I need it.
Oh that's a good idea. Thanks.

Also a scale... and I got measure shot glasses.. for me it will help with the drinks.
Also ziploc has plastic 1 cup containers.. I easily keep my protein powder in them because the last protein I bought was enough to feed you all and me for a year!! Jug -o- protein... lol
Not much really. Some people's taste buds change, so I wouldn't go crazy stocking up.
A kitchen scale.
a measuring cup
i grabbed a stack of the 1oz cuppie things from the hospital to help with pacing my water intake.
most you'll buy as you figure things out. I hated sports bottles pre op, but post, it was the only way I could drink water. Room temp water.
i also couldn't drink plain water, so flavourings and tea bags were the way to go for me.

I have two things I love post op! One, to pace my eating: I eat with an espresso spoon!!
Two, I bought a Crock Pot warmer. It's kept my soups warm while it takes me an hour to sip on them (I use a teaspoon for soups!). The couple of times I've used a bowl, I've had cold soup.

I had surgery last Tuesday. I stocked up on Premier protein, jello (sugar free), pudding (sugar free), and flavoured no fat greek yogurt. Needless to say that my taste buds have completely changed. I can't stand everything so sweet. And there is also this knawing feeling in me that is saying they aren't great for my body and don't need them at all. I am craving fresh real food ( and ice water).
I have gone back to the whey powder that is slightly (very slightly) sweetened with stevia and whey powder with no flavour mixed in the vitamix with skim milk and lots of ice. Other than that I am eating strained soups and broths. My favourite thing right now to tell you the truth is just plain ice water!!...but I know I need the protein of course!
Hope this helps,
Barb
