Are there any Vegans on this board?

How did your nurse/surgeon feel about your diet after surgery? I am fully confident that I can satisfy my protein requirements while remaining Vegan. I just wonder if there is any negativity from the medical teams.

I only found one truly good vegan protein shake ( VEGA) don't get me wrong I am a carnivore... but I like to switch it up --- for health's sake... they make some amazing flavours too... and many of the recipes I found now are vegan as well and use protein ( pea protein).

Thanks...I have a great protein powder that I use (Genuine Health- Fermented Protein)...I guess my concern is if I would get turned away from the program because of it?

I am not vegan, but I do eat very little meat. My centre has been very supportive, I have not received any negativity or had anyone try to push me towards meat. I do consume dairy products.

I am finding it very difficult to get my protein in though. I love nuts, seeds and legumes - they all agree with me, but I find the quantity I need to eat to get the protein is hard. The calories can be very high. I've recently gone back to some tofu products. I find I can eat them for a bit, but then get sick of them and take a break. It's been a struggle for sure.

You may want to look up Dr Matthew Weiner. He is a weight loss surgeon in the US with some really good videos. His focus is more of a nutrient rich diet made up of fruits and vegetables.

Im a vegetarian and have no issues getting protein in. I do still have a premier shake a day - most importantly because im pregnant but it has added value for me.

I use soy products such as meats and meatballs, lentils, chickpeas, i make oatmeal with protein powder, yogurts, nuts, tofu i dont do as it reminds me of block cheese, smooth flavoured cottage cheese, beans, TONS of options that dont need protein powder ? I lost 120 lbs in three months then got pregnant so have gained 10 but its ok as my baby is growing. More than feasable to do and be successful
