Hello All!!

Checking in after my surgery. I was so excited to go in, everyone kept asking if I was nervous, and I was like hell no! lets get 'er done!

Afterwards I had by far the worse pain I can ever remember. It was all gas pain so they kept pumping me full of pain meds which did nothing for the gas pain. (I was getting really mad, since it didn't sound like the nurses were actually listening to my description of the pain.) Luckily my knight in shining armor (aka my anesthesiologist) came to check on me, and proceeded to run around the entire hospital (recovery did't have it, the pharmacy didn't have it, he ended up going to emerg) looking for the makings of what he called a "pink lady". It was amazing. Got rid of that excruciating pain so I could at least breath, and finally rest.

I ended up spending an extra day in the hospital due to not being able to pass gas... god I hate gas pain!

Thankfully I was able to come home yesterday. And it is soooo nice to be able to sleep in your own bed! The only issue is keeping my cat off my abdomen ;P so far an extra pillow deters her enough to stop and I think she's understanding that there's something going on there.

Other then the gas pain, this was actually alot less painful then my appendectomy that I had last year. At least with this one I can still pretty much bend and sit without pain. I am soo looking forward to recovering and figuring out how to get all this food in me! ;)

Thank you for all your well wishes! I will be picking everyone's brains and posts for how and what to best incorporate, as well as places to find what we need ;) since "I read the book, and followed the instructions" only works so far ;) We're not simply curing greyscale here.

Louise

What a great update. Yes, the gas pain was the worst but only lasted a few days. Hot compresses worked well for me. Happy recovering and good to see you in the loser's bench.
