First day on Opti and broth question
So my first day on Opti went well. I went half vanilla and half chocolate, and luckily I don't mind the taste of either, but I'm sure I'll be picking up some sugar-free syrups within the next week for the sake of variety and in the hopes of making it better than "not minding the taste." XD
One thing I'm wondering is if anyone knows what the limit is for broth. The guide says it counts as one of the calorie-free liquids we can have so long as there's less than 10 calories per serving, but how many servings can we have in a day? I doubt they'd be okay with all 6-8 cups being broth, so is there a limit somewhere?
For example, I have some bouillon cubes that work out to 30 cals for the whole cube in 2 cups of water, so I can use 1/3 of the cube to make a make a 2/3 cup, mug-sized serving of 10 cals. Would it be too much to have all three servings over the course of the day, thus consuming 30 calories of broth? And what about using two servings to make a full bowl? A "serving" is a pretty subjective, so I don't really know where the lines are drawn, you know? I want to make sure I do this right, but after so much sweet I really want something savory.

I don't think you have to worry about it too much to be honest. My NUT never gave me any limits on broth so I practically lived on it during the Opti phase. I had a really hard time tolerating the shakes and was really sensitive to the taste, so I often had 2-3 big bowls of broth a day to help keep me sane, lol. You should be good to go :)
I never got an official answer but one poster told me the equivalent of two servings per day, or 20 extra calories in a day, however it's divided.
I found the first week I needed the broth. The second week, the broth actually made me full and uncomfortable. I guess I was in ketosis by then!
Plain tea is a good option to cut the sweetness as well, and has zero calories. I also made my shakes with brewed refrigerated coffee (half water, half coffee, total liquid 400 g) and that cut the sweetness.
Congrats on getting through your first day! Surgery must be soon?!

That's fair. Hopefully I won't need it past the first week either, or I can at least cut down.
I'm really sensitive to bitter flavours, so I can't drink coffee or any teas but fruity herbal ones, which still taste sweet. XD So I'm probably going to be leaning on the broth for a bit.
It's October 6th! I'm on three weeks of Opti. Though it's really unfortunate that I wasn't scheduled even a week earlier, because I got a job offer earlier today where they wanted me to start on the 16th. They're going to get back to me on Monday if they can work something out, but I'm really tempted to try and call in and see where I'm at on the cancellation list. XD
Congratulations on your job offer! Hopefully that can be worked out. Fingers crossed.
