Tasty post op option shake

When I was newly post op, I kept a premier protein shake in a bowl full of ice, and just poured it out one medicine cupful at a time...then switched to tiny espresso cups because they were prettier and sturdier, lol. It took me hours and hours to finish one shake and this way, it stayed cold (I'd add new ice to the bowl as needed).

Now I just drink it from the fridge, or else mix a quarter cup of vanilla or caramel premier protein into a hot cup of decaf for a high protein coffee.

I did the same and I can't tolerate any of them. I have been drinking the premier protein, it is the only one I can keep down, sometimes!

I don't know why so many of us can only manage premier after surgery. Prior to surgery, there was one brand I really liked (can't remember the name). It was super expensive, from the health food store, organic, made from grass fed cows that were allowed to roam a pasture, lol, and it tasted great...pre op. I still have a huge container of the stuff and at 7 months post op, still can't stand the look, taste, or smell of it. Yet I loved it pre op.

Welcome to the losers bench!

The most popular one is Premier brand because of the protein count of 30grams a serving. I like chocolate Premier protein as well as the caramel flavor. I add PB2 to the vanilla as well as the bananas & cream flavors. Pure Protein brand in the can in frosted chocolate is good. It was easier for me to use the liquid forms instead of powders in the beginning. Advant Edge in Dark Chocolate (liquid 4pk at Walmart for under $5) is another brand that I like that is more affordable, but has less protein per serving. Instead of water. I pour my shakes over lots of ice.
