Wondering if gout attacks related to high weight loss and diet
A number of years ago I had a gout Attack in left foot lasted a few weeks I did not seek medical attention. I've had 2 attacks since May also Achilles heel pain for a week or so a month nth ago. Finally went to emergency yesterday got medicine for gout but auric acid was higher than normal but not too bad so also got anti-biotic in case of infection. Anyway it could be related to diet i.e. Low Carbs does it happen to a lot of WLS people anyone else had this. FYI very painful

It could. Go get your uric acid levels checked. Look up foods that affect gout - red meats and stuff

High protein diets can affect those that have had previous gout attacks. Apparently if you drink more water than usual it will help clear the uric acid from your body. Have seen quite a few people suffer from it post op but most had it prior to wls and it just made it worse because we tend to heat high protein post op.
I shouldn't read the forums before having my morning coffee...I kept staring at your header and wondering why weight loss would affect goat attacks, until my brain processed that you were talking about gout.
My Dad has gout and says it's very painful; I'm sorry you're going through this. He was told to cut down on steak, seafood, and sugars.

I laughed so hard reading this that my kids came to see what was wrong with me. I keep picturing herds of goats carrying guns!!!
Sorry OP that you're in pain but thanks for the giggle Kathy!
When I looked into b12 injections after WLS vs. taking it orally I remember gout flare ups being mentioned. Now, I don't recall if it was too much b12 or a deficiency (sorry, I know...not very helpful!) but it's something to look into or mention to your doctor.

Concerning diet I'm not allowed red meat for 6 months months on Guelph program, have not had alcohol for almost 9 months seafood maybe once per week primarily eating chicken/poultry Greek yogurt boiled egg, cottage cheese low low carb so much for definitions I googled not sure what changes to make food wise. Thanks for suggestions though will speak to Doctor.
