Food watchers
so, I have noticed that people watch me eat. I. Particular, my husband has been very observant. We went to Swiss chalet tonight. I had a cup of chicken soup and half of a chicken breast- white meat, no skin. He said "wow, you can really eat a lot more now". Wtf? That was a perfectly good portion 6 months post surgery. Maybe I am too sensitive but I felt food shamed for the volume. Anyone else feel this way?

TO add to this, yesterday hubby says that I eat too many protein bars and protein shakes and wished I would be more "healthy" by eating real food and exercise more. I have one shake and/or one bar. Sorry, sounds like a husband rant day for me. I need to tell him that there is no comfort to me to hear any of his comments and that I have a bariatric team behind me. Sorry. Rant over.

I wouldn't worry about the shakes, I use to have 2 protein shakes per day because I couldn't eat a lot and had a hard time with dense protein couldn't do them.. I did the odd protein bar. Now that I am almost 17 months post op I still do shake every morning.. I am glad I haven't had problems with food police actually my daughter is my food police when I want something that's not on the plan she gives me **** says I don't need that can't have it put it back she only 14 she sure keeps me on track

Yikes! I am still eating tiny portions...but that seems completely reasonable to me!! That would annoy me for sure!

does not seem like an unreasonable portion to me. Sometimes hubbies are dumb.
But then they get cute and we forgive them - LOL

In my opinion they see the success and changes you've made and are only trying to help you stay on track. These are loved ones concerned you don't go back to old ways. Take it with a grain of salt or in our case maybe a gram of protein.

Hi Leeann
i am too early post surgery for any comments but your post resonated with me. All my life my father would always watch me eat, serve me less food than the rest of the family. His behaviour had the opposite effect than he wanted ( me to not be fat) and just made me mad and eat more.
Anytime my husband makes a comment that he thinks is helpful I gentle explain to him why it isn't, lol.
