Ottawa question

Hi so I'm finally getting my referral put into the surgeon after a lengthy wait to get my sleep results back. (FYI: don't go through Kingston general hospital as they take months to get results back if you don't have an issue uggghhh).

My question is what was your timeline after the referral went in? How long before seeing the surgeon and how long before surgery?

Here is my timeline. I used to have it as my signature on this forum. I think it was about 6 - 8 months after refferal went in before I heard anything from the Ottawa Clinic but once I did things moved along. Initial contact came via information package in the Mail.

Do you mean referral to the program? I was referred in October and attended my orientation the beginning of January, I had my surgery August 25th

No referral to meet the surgeon. I am all approved now after going through all the steps just have to meet the surgeon now

Are you with BMI or the Civic?

At the Civic you will meet the suregeon after the second pre op class. I went through the WMC at the Civic, I don't know the procedure at BMI.

I started my journey back in April of 2016.

I went through all the phases pretty smoothly. Classes, nurse practioner, already Diagnosed with sleep apnea, had colonoscopy/endoscopy. I saw my surgeon in the middle of October and was called (3) later. They offered middle of November but I was already scheduled for surgery on my ankle November 11th. I chose January 4th because I wanted at least a couple of months between surgeries. I also wanted to do it while my kids were at home for Christmas break. Opti (3) weeks in a December was very difficult. I am (8) months out & down 113.

I am not sure how long it is now.

This experience is life changing!

No regrets...
