Sept 1st - no more "snacks"
I have been on vacation this week. At home with the kids and doing Day trips, having friends over, etc. Everything too relaxed including my food planning. My hubby mentioned my "grazing". Not in a mean way but a concerned way. He says I look great but he is surprised at how much I have been eating this week. Stepped on the scale and it shows. Up 3 pounds. So, today is sept 1st and I have committed to myself for no more u planned snacking for the month. Yikes. This will be life long for me for sure.
referral: early June 2016; surgery Feb 21, 2017
Thanks for sharing your journey with us and your honesty. As I get closer to having a surgery date, it has become apparent to me, that the struggle I have with food will always be there and that I will have to always monitor what I eat for the rest of my life. I know that the surgery will definitely help, but there is still lots of work to be done. The reality is becoming more and more real to me thanks to posts like yours.
I hope your day goes well and know that we all support you.
Thanks again,
Barb

It will be a life long thing for me, too. I just bought some protein chips to keep on hand so I can have healthy snacks in the house. They have a new flavor; cheddar and sour cream, and I can't wait to try them.

Are they Quest? if so, let me know how they taste. I don't mind the BBQ ones but hate the sour cream ones.

Hello Leeann,
Some days - and some situations are easier than others. I keep taking the uneaten pieces of pizza crust from my husband's plate when he makes homemade pizza at 10 p.m. and brings it to bed! Does it sound like I'm venting about him? My bad - lol.
It is a struggle and it will only get harder the further out we are. Good catch and thank you for sharing.

Yikes! Maybe ask him to compromise... if he's going to bring the pizza to bed, cut the crust off and throw it out first!!

Century Club and Onederland in month 7!!
I hear ya sister! I'm a grazer by nature and man do those calories add up fast.
I journal everything and plan everything. If I don't it'll be a disaster.
I know this is going to be a lifelong "thing" for me.
Sigh.....

I read somewhere that it helps if you put down everything your are GOING to eat in a day the day before. then you are less likely to stray from the script so to speak.
i don't know if this works. i know for me it would be super hard as i tend to eat on the fly. not grazing for me per se but for dinner i like to cook what i feel like not what i felt like yesterday.
but i can see how it can work.
its just a suggestion. and that way you can figure in snacks. and decide you can make it work if you have , like, peanut butter on a cracker in the morning. but you sorted out all your day so its not "extra' calories its still in the prescribed amount.
any way you do it. good luck
(i know you said in your post unplanned snacking was out and i totally agree. maybe my post was a bit redundant. sorry)
I may not be there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday!

I'm only 3 months post-op, but I am finding that I need to be focused when I'm eating, or else the old ways come back (too fast, drinking while eating, etc...) Its so easy to forget.
Good for you for recommitting!!!
