Grocery Shopping Finds!
I have been on the hunt for the Green Giant line of riced vegetables, cauliflower mash etc., and FINALLY found a fabulous assortment of these products at Fortino's. They have been very very hard to find.
I picked up the broccoli cheese tots and the riced cauliflower. I tried the cauliflower mash a few weeks ago. It was OK, but my own is better. It's just nice to have this in the freezer as a go to when time is short on a weekday. I can't wait to try the broccoli cheese tots. It's nice to have something "different" for a change to mix things up.
I also found a Butter Chicken Sauce, India Kitchen, with low carbs and surprisingly low fat. Made my heart sing when I found that. Again, a nice change and an easy weeknight dinner helper. I figure I will try it this week and add some chicken or shrimp and have it over cauliflower rice. Whoo hoo! A little side salad and I'm done.
And last, but not least, Mario Batallia, pasta sauces - LOW CARB, made with fresh ingredients. I bought the tomato basil blend. I also managed to find the GK Kitchens high protein, low carb, gluten free pasta a couple of weeks ago. Again, I'll add some chicken and maybe some mushrooms to the sauce and have it over the pasta.
Exiting finds for me. I found I was getting into a bit of a rut with things and really needed a change up!

I made my own rice cauliflower tonight and was HUGELY pleased with the outcome and texture. I added mushrooms, leeks, garlic and some olive oil. "Fried" it up in a fry pan until it just started browning. Oh My was it ever good.
I was really surprised by the texture. It was soft and fluffy with a hint of a nutty flavour.
I'll be making that again for sure.

I found the Green Giant riced cauliflower at Walmart last week!

Waterdown Fortino's. I contacted Green Giant directly. I was told Loblaws Supercentres, Sobey's, Walmart and then I found it at Fortino's by accident.
