TWH QUESTION RE FRUIT Q
on 8/23/17 11:54 am, edited 8/23/17 1:10 pm
I have not had my one on one with the NUT yet. I am preparing my menus.. do not laugh... ok chuckle... please tell me does TWH allow bananas at puree stage? and when can you eat blueberries and strawberries - the manual says frozen fruit but not which ones.
UPDATE: An American sleever told me to read the blog theAntiChick and it really is great. She too cannot do the low low carb thing ( medically I cannot either) and has lost tons eating a balance diet.

Honestly you should stay away from fruit until you are closer to goal. Fruit is carbs, low carb is what is best for weight loss.
I don't remember seeing banana in my manual. I know they say unsweetened applesauce. If you have to have fruit berries are the better choice because of their low glycemic index.
Even now I don't have fruit very often at 16 mos out. I will put some berries (blue, raspberry or strawberry) in my yogurt. Occasionally I will have half a banana on my way to the gym if I'm feeling really hungry.
My suggestion would be to avoid fruit until you are at or real close to goal. It will slow down your weight loss. Your body doesn't recognize it as fruit, oh its a good thing, it recognizes as sugar, the same as a cookie, candy or chocolate bar.
The NUTS will encourage you to eat many things that the vets here on this board and the Menu Thread on the RNY board would recommend that you staff away from. They've lived it they know.

I agree. I have had 1 strawberry, 2 chunks of watermelon and 2 slices of apple and that was just in the last 2 months (I'm 7 months out). I really don't have an interest but it was the only thing I could eat where I was at the time.
Focus on protein before fruit/carbs etc.
I'm not planning on eating fruit anytime soon.

For medical reasons .. I cannot go into... I cannot have a really low carb diet . I have to have a balanced diet. I know low carb is the quick way to lose but I may have to look at the long haul. That is why I asked how soon can you have a half banana or berries. Thanks ladies!
I had a 1/2 banana in my shake during the purée stage and 20 minutes later It came back up.
I haven't had a banana since.
i have tried other fruits though.
