Do you have to drink ALL your opti?
Last time i was on opti i couldn't get through it all. i had maybe 2-3 a day is that ok?
I mean its only 2 weeks. but Full opti is already low calories. so is it ok? does anyone know
I just feel luggy. ( i know its not a word but its an onomatopoeia ) on it.
i have a cup of broth in the afternoon but yeah. just the low sodium low calorie broth. but mostly that is because i get sweeted out by the opti
any advice handy. thanks
Cheers

You should drink all 4 but some centres have allowed others to drink 3. I wouldn't go lower than 3. Why not have some tea or coffee in between to have something hot and not sweet. There are tons of herbal teas that make you feel like you are drinking something more than just flavoured water. I mixed most of my opti with cold coffee to keep the sweetness down.

Thank you. i will look out my herbal teas. i do mix the opti with decaff coffee.
i will try to get down 4. I suppose it is only reasonable

Hey there,
Yay @ being back on track!
I agree with the previous poster... try to get your 4 Opti in every day.
I also can't deal with things overly sweet. I cut down on the sweetness by adding cold brewed coffee to mine. I also add more liquid in total than is called for.
I put 250 ml of water and 150 ml of coffee (I'm going to try 300 ml of water and 100 ml of coffee). I shake and pour over ice. It's been good for me.
Good luck!

Century Club and Onederland in month 7!!
Like others have said, try for the 4 - at least 3. Having only 2 isn't great. I would have decaf coffee, peppermint tea and apple cinnamon tea at other times. I also never had broth/jello during my optifast as I didn't feel hungry and was satisfied with the opt/tea/coffee.
You can do it! :)

if the issue is the OPTI you may want to talk to your dietitian to see if you can switch out with something more tolerable.
Bottom line talk to your dietitian. Mine let me find a shake I could tolerate and then adjusted some other things to make sure I had the right balance. eg had me add low carb vegetables like cauliflower to add carbs as the shake I chose was lower carb than opti. her goal was to get me to the optimal calorie and macro level for the preop diet.

LOL i did not even think to ask my dietitian. silly isn't it. my first inclination is to come here and ask. when i have a raft of medical staff to ask. but It is just so comfy asking you all.
i will make some calls. thanks!

I was told all 4 were super important because they contain a days worth of vitamins and minerals, which keep us healthy for surgery. Try to space them out by about 4 hours or more to get them all in, eg., 8 AM, noon, 4 pm, 8 pm.
I was on it for 3 weeks and the only days I couldn't get them all in were days I was stuck at the ER for hours and hours and didn't have any with me (I got sick before surgery).
