Hi and Questions.

Hi, I just received my orientation invitation from Guelph.

Couple of Questions. Is there some good posts that describe the process and timeline from here?

Also, I'm in Toronto so was wondering why I was sent to Guelph Hospital? Is that changeable? Just a bit worried about the bus ride back and forth. (Don't have a car).

Any advice on what to expect clues etc would be greatly appreciated.

Nervous in Toronto.

It could be because toronto is backlogged right now for surgeries... so that could be why they sent you that way... you can change it to toronto..just give the center a call in guelph and ask them to change it for you.

You will definitely have a longer wait if you go through toronto for sure.. I took about 1 year from orientation to surgery at Toronto Western

Thanks for the advice, if it's a longer wait I'll just go with Guelph. Took me a long time to come to the decision to ask for the referral and while the journey is a bit frightening I want to start it.

Congratulations Joe! That's so exciting to be starting the process.

Like Michelle said, call Guelph and ask for a transfer to Toronto Western Hospital for transportation and proximity reasons.

TWH is still conducting weekly orientations, so the backlog shouldn't affect you at this stage, and they are working on clearing their backlog to move everyone through without excessive delay.

I have my surgery there in a couple of weeks and it's been an above par experience. Wishing you the best success and see around these boards!

Thanks so much!

TWH went super quickly for me. Less than 4 months. It was a combination of great advice from ppl here, diligence on my part with the hospital, and of course a sprinkle of luck.

I was like you... had been thinking about it for a long time. Once I decided I was ready, I was ready.

All the hospitals are great. We really are fortunate!! Wherever you go will be right for you. :)

I would suggest that you stay with guelph. Unless you don't mind waiting at least a year and likely much longer. Like others said...Toronto had a huge backlog. My understanding is that they stopped giving out surgery dates.

I actually tried to get transferred to guelph to speed things up. But I got super lucky with some cancellations due to bad weather...studio muy process was very quick. That said ...I don't feel that I would be so fortunate if I was just starting the process now.

All the best with your journey!

Guelph went quick for me (5 months). It can be longer if you have to have a sleep test done and have extra appointments. I would stick with Guelph though, they were great. Just do what they say and be honest and you'll be on the losers bench in no time :)
