Surgery Next Week, So Nervous/Excited ...Dr. Penner @TWH is my Sergoen
HI
My Surgery is next week (Aug 22nd) and i am nervous about the procedure and anesthesia, not that i have any health issues, but i am just getting cold feet and hearing many negative opinions from the surrounding friends and family members (who are worried for me) is like adding fuel to fire, do you have an idea about Dr. Penner (my scheduled surgeon) and the hospital
it really would help to hear your thoughts and insights about the procedure and hospital/surgeon
Thanks
Sam

YUP I know you get from all sides... there is a risk but for everyone.... going under is serious--- luckily we have surgeons who area used to working with large people and take great precautions. So happy for you- Dr Penner has a great rep, and TWH is aweeeeeeeeeeeesome!!!
Take Care and good luck!
Thanks for the feedback, i have been under previously, but like you said,,,i am getting it from all sides and i am standing my grounds...let's hope all goes well and i think that TWH is aweesome and i do have faith in the team there ...i guess its just jitters and cold feet
Congratulations; that's great news. Your healthcare team have you covered and are experienced and knowledgeable. No worries other than taking care of yourself afterwards and follow your program. The benefits outweigh any worry by a long shot.
All the best.

Thanks Linda ,,,hopefully all will go smooth as silk and i don't have an issue with the procedure and i am sure that it will be a roller coaster ride in recovery process or post surgery
Don't listen to the negative stuff - as Linda says the benefits outweigh the risks. Its the best decision I've made and my only regret is that I didn't do this years ago. I didn't have any pain at all and was up and around with minimum of problems.
Best of luck and don't be nervous!! Just relax and follow all doctors orders and you will be fine!
I was extremely anxious and worried and I asked for some Ativan during my pre-op appointment. The Ativan really helped to keep me calm. No doubt this is serious but staying morbidly obese is also very serious. Like others have said, the doctors and medical team are experienced, have medically recommended this for you and you are in the best hands possible. No doubt a scary process but so worth it to get your health back. To the well-meaning family and friends that are scaring you "I appreciate that you are concerned. I am concerned too but this is a well thought out medical decision and it is very difficult for me to hear these comments from you. I just need positive support right now".

Hi Leeann,
Thanks for the reply, and yes that is what i am saying to them "I'm in good hands and everything will be fine, the staff and doctors have covered everything and the procedure will run smooth as silk", but honestly speaking its normal to have some kind of tingles in my nervs...but i am going full speed ahead and i am looking forward for the results...
