Anyone living the GoodLife?
Hello Everyone,
I decided to join a gym again ~ a grand opening for a GoodLife was held today and I am on a 30 day free trial membership. I'm 280 lbs and I have my first nurse appt coming up this month at the TOH. My emotions are up and down with the bariatric surgery and I do want to be in good shape for the surgery if approved. I do have comorbidies? (Oops on the spelling?) and I want to be a healthy weight and actually maintain it for life. I don't think the gym can help me alone...is there anybody out there who belonged to a gym before? and/or after surgery? What, if any, restrictions have you done?
Have a great day everyone

HI! I'm a week out from my RNY, I am seriously looking to join a gym. I am thinking of Goodlife. It is important to get a great exercise routine. It will help you with your cardiovascular health, it will help you with your metabolism (weight training) and it is good to be around like minded people, people who care about their health. You will make new friends and get out of the house. Good for you. I am not sure if you have comorbidies, do you have more than one condition that needs to be addressed. WLS will help you in so many ways! I am so happy you are looking into this! Keep us posted. If you like you can friend me and follow my blog.
TOGETHER we can be BETTER
Best, MJ
I do have a couple comorbidies, and I think the atmosphere will be good for me. How are you feeling now after surgery? What it was you expected?

Hmmm when I was 18, I was probably a 100 lbs less than I was now for sure. I'm still trying to get used to this ticker lol thanks again! I will be in touch

Being fit is good. Just be easy on your joints until the weight is off. A stationary bike is better than trying to run. You will not be able to exercise for a few weeks after surgery. I recommend you do not sign up until you have been cleared medically to resume exercise.
Us the 30 days to see if the gym life is for you. I could not stick to it but I know a lot of people do. I do other exercises like swimming or biking as they are easier for me with arthritis
Great points, I will make sure I use the 30 days and go from there. I like the treadmill and will try a bike. Used to do the body pump classes 10 years ago, we will see how it goes! Thanks
