First day on Optifast...
I don't know how all of you that did this made it through but you all deserve an award!
I am on shake #2 and I simply just can't keep them down. I have been flavouring them, sweetening them, you name it and nothing does the trick. As soon as that metallic flavour hits the back of my throat it's game over.
Can someone live on sugar-free Jell-o for 20 days? Lol.
Optifast is no joke. Its not easy, but you'll get through it. Just stick with it. Eventually you will find something that works for you with the flavorings. I made a chart and just kept stroking off the shakes as they went. Only 52 more to go! LOL You can do it!! Just keep testing different flavors. Good luck!
I honestly feel like all the preparation the surgical team does and that I did leading up to this process... nothing could have prepared me for this. I've learned that I hate it mixed with coffee and that caramel flavouring syrup is gross. Maybe I just need to get hungry enough!
I'll get through it I know. It's only 21 days out of the rest of my life. But right now I just feel miserable and I'm super emotional.
Thanks for your reply!
I liked the chocolate by itself.. with no flavourings.... just shaken with lots of ice and very cold water.... the vanilla... I added the same very cold water..and lots of ice... as well as the crystal lite liquid flavouring my favourite was the pomegrante... and the strawberry lemonade.
I found when I blended them in a blender.. that it made them really chaky... but was much better when I just shook it in a blender bottle... :)

If you've got the vanilla ones, try adding lots of water. It dilutes the sweetness and the taste, and might help.
Remember - the first three days are the hardest. After that it will start to get better.

Hey!
Sk I definitely know the feeling, I'm on day 5 and they get tiring pretty fast.
someone told me if you mix the drink with more water it helps and gives it more of a milky consistency, also for the vanilla one you could had some pumpkin spice.
Hiney I found the only was to drink them was to add a bit more water and chug then have a glass of water ready and drink it right after.
It gets easier the more you drink.
hope this helps

I found blending them with about 5 ice cubes and sugar free vanilla syrup helped ALOT. Especially the vanilla ones. Those were nasty for me. I put the vanilla in both of them!
You will get through it. It becomes easier as you go. If that helps.
