this is tmi. But, since my surgery I have taken restoralax every day in my water. If I don't take it I get backed up. I go every day. Here is the issue: i imagine it is soft and light weight wise as it never goes down on the first flush and it is really starting to gross my family out. Will solid harder poops come? It is no****er like diarrhea but soft. This is a gross topic but wondered if anyone else has this issue. Happy that I go for sure though.

My comment is also TMI. I have not been taking restoralax (or magnesium tablets that a friend swears by) and I'm going to the washroom usually every other day and, for the most part, the stools have been rock hard and bumpy. Today, it just wouldn't come out and it made me shaky and nauseous. I had my daughter buy me some laxatives on the way into town. I've read about being impacted and if I don't want to worry about an obstruction. I have been drinking loads of water each day, am drinking strictly decaf tea and coffee and have now decided to cut out cheese. I need to up my vegetables and low sugar vegetables to get some fiber in as well.

I know my body is adapting, and could also use some advice. How opposite can we be Leeann? Jeez!

It usually won't become more solid-like while taking any form of laxative. Also, be VERY cautious about taking laxatives daily because over time your body will become dependent on them and your own peristalsis will stop and you will have to rely on laxatives on-going

If you're worried about becoming impacted and/or constipated I would suggest taking Senokot-S; it's a natural senna product which means it's a non-laxative stool softener, so you don't need to worry about your guts not working on their own!

Hope this helps!

The nurse told me restoralx is non addictive and okay to use long term.
