4 months post-op RNY.

Good morning Ginnny,

We had a great week away and had wonderful weather. Lots of walking, swimming, reading and playing with my grandson in the water. We also played board games, camp fires (minus the smores) and we both got some sleep. How fortunate we are to live in such a beautiful country and to have access to all that we have!

I'm back to work and woke up tired - how ironic!

B - protein shake and black decaf.

S - Armstrong cheese stick

L - Salmon burger with cucumber and tzatziki

D - Bacon wrapped chicken with sliced tomato

S - Plain Skyr with unsweetened applesauce

Calories: 645, Protein: 78, Carbs: 24. All water and vitamins

Weighed in when we got back and I lost 1.5 lbs. Ate well and had no trouble sticking to plan. This month I (only) lost 6 lbs. total and 8" - another 2" from my waist and hips. I am reducing in size - the ultimate goal and know that I am building muscle as I am losing fat. I will continue to concentrate on protein; limiting all else and will up my exercise.

Have you heard from C.C.? Give her my best.

snack. Hummus and 15 mini Bretton crackers

lunch. Turkey burger patty ( meat only)

snack. Greek yogurt and cheese stick if still hungry

dinner. Cheese and spinach omelette

going to force myself self to take a walk when I get home and will take a nice bath after.

Hi guys,

Monday already? Wow, time flies. I had a great weekend; bike camping on Friday and Saturday, then to the pool for 2 hours yesterday. My friend joined me and she liked it so much she's thinking of joining, which would be great! After our swim, we went next door to the Swiss Chalet for dinner and it was so yummy. I just had some chicken and salad, she had the baked potato and rolls with hers, plus dessert but she is over 8 years out of RNY and kindly brought the dessert home to eat later. I really enjoyed the meal but it seemed super salty and made me thirsty.

Today I'm not sure if I'll go for another swim, or do a bike ride or walk. One of the three, anyway.

I'm almost 6 months post op RNY.

Breakfast: 2 cups decaf with 1/4 cup banana premier protein and 1 tbsp sugar free chocolate truffle skinny syrup in each (yum), then a bit later, 1/2 cup plain Greek Yogurt with 1/4 cup blueberries.

Lunch: Pepperette, string cheese.

Supper: Garlic Shrimp

Snack: Beef jerky, 1 cup watermelon.

Your physical activity amazes me! Good for you. Just curious about your friend who is 8 years out-how is her weight? Has she maintained her weight loss? I am 4 years out and I will have a bit of bun, a couple bites of potato and some chicken but never can or will fini**** all. I have noticed that I can eat more now so still have to stay diligent.

Thank you! I was riding my bike last year at my heavy weight and it's much easier this year. When I loaded my bike up with about 50 Lbs of gear for the camping trip, it was much harder to ride. I don't know how I did it at all when I weighed 100 Lbs more; there's no way I could bike with 100 Lbs of gear now.

My friend is doing great! She had a bit of regain but lost most of it again. She took 1 whole grain roll, dessert, and a portion of her chicken home as left overs because the potato and 1 roll and half the chicken filled her up. She had white meat and her portion was bigger than mine (I had dark meat). I was able to eat all of my chicken and about half the salad.

She did tell me that the mental struggle is always there and never goes away. She says she is either super disciplined with her eating, or undisciplined; she's not perfect and always has to struggle to make the right choices. She told me that because I wanted more salad but was worried one more bite would be that "one bite too much" that would cause pain and discomfort. Then I hiccuped and knew I was done (it's my signal, but doesn't always happen).

That is good to hear. Yes a hiccup or a burp is a good sign you are full. We always need to listen to our tummy. I don't know how you rode your bike then-I can barely fathom you doing it now lol. You must have super strong legs! Good for you.

I do have strong legs. My Dad is Austrian and everyone on his side of the family has big strong, muscular legs, which I inherited. I always joke about my mountain climbing legs that have never seen mountain climbing, lol. My calves are huge, lol.

Post Op VSG 10 Months

Stepped on the scale yesterday and freaked out because I was up 2 pounds, but went back on again this morning and I was back to normal again today. I really need to learn not to get so paranoid over normal fluctuations on the scale. I thought adding in some more carbs with fruit as I've been doing lately would make me gain, but I'm happy to see that's not the case. As I reach maintenance I'm going to experiment with my calories/carb tolerance level to see what works best. Would love to add in more varied fruits and veggies in my diet but I'm sticking to low GI fruits for now and under 30g net carbs a day. Was doing about 20g net carbs before but it was much more restrictive.

Today's eats:

B: Chocolate Premier Protein w/ 1tsp instant hazelnut coffee

S1: 0.8oz BBQ cashews, 1 babybel

L: 1 cup spinach, 1 hard boiled egg, 0.5oz feta cheese, 1oz rotisserie chicken breast, 10g salad dressing

S2: 3oz plain greek yogurt, 10g sugar free maple syrup, 2oz blackberries

D: 2.5oz raw spiralized zucchini, 2.5oz shrimp, 1oz alfredo sauce, 2tbsp parmesan cheese

S3: Protein bar w/ 2tbsp of sugar free protein ice cream

Totals: 997 cals, 50g carbs - 25g fiber = 25g net carbs, 108g protein

I did all my weight loss on a balanced macro plan. As long as you choose healthy carbs you'll be fine. Balanced macros are 40%protein 35%carb, 25% fat. though I"m more comfortable at 40/30/30...just because I love my healthy fats :).
