Just asking for some help
At the risk of sounding politically incorrect, I am asking all of you who pray to please pray for me. I have lost all motivation and am feeling pretty down. I will update as of today: I have been referred by the Internist at the Bariatric clinic to an Endocrinologist because I have low Vitamin D, which has effected my Calcium levels, which may have effected my parathyroid glands (this is why I need to see the Specialist). Although I have been referred, I still do not have an appointment. I have been calling for the past 3 weeks to see when my appointment will be . As of today, the Specialist has not even looked at my file. I have called the Bariatric clinic and asked that the Internist give her a call to see if she could speed things along - I'm not holding my breath for that. So far no word. The Bariatric clinic had asked me to be in touch with them in August so that I can re-do my blood work to see if there is still a problem. I guess what I am asking is that those of you who pray, please pray for a miracle - that my blood work is normal and that I can moving along with the next step in line for me for WLS, which is to meet with the surgeon and get a date for that. Forgive me for not keeping on top with everyone's successes and struggles here. I am finding it really hard to be positive. I realize that we all have our struggles and that this too shall pass. I am just asking for some help. Besides prayer, any suggestions?
Thanks for listening once again,
Barb

Oh Barb, there is nothing politically incorrect about this. I am so truly sympathetic to what you're going through. I will pray that your next blood work shows that your vitamin D and calcium issues have been resolved and you are cleared to move forward with surgery.
I really do understand how frustrating, despairing, this is. And while we know it will pass, I pray it passes, and more importantly resolves and paves the way for surgery for you soon.
I also understand the need to pull back from here, and celebrate a little less. I'm sure everyone here does.
We're all here for you, and understand completely it's not your time to reciprocate. Just be you right now.
Wishing you ease in this uneasy time. *hugs*

I agree with oneatatimes post. Nothing wrong with asking for some support! While I am not religious you will certainly be in my thoughts and I hope that the blood work turns out normal And that you have a date soon!. This being said, the referral may be a blessing in disguise. If you do have a parathyroid problem, it could be playing a roll in your weight loss/maintenance. Besides the complications with the band, my undiagnosed hypothyroidism played a large roll in not being successful with the band. Ultimately we are all doing this for our health and I hope that whatever may be the cause of your blood work is resolved quickly so that aspect can be sorted out and surgery for the other health benefits can be achieved!
My thoughts are with you through this and know I am just a message away of you need an ear or a shoulder!

Hi gbears,
You are right. It could be a blessing in disguise, but I just wish that things would move along quicker so that I can get on with this. It's hard to prepare myself both physically and emotionally when I don't know what's going on. But thanks. I find your encouragement very uplifting. Thanks for that.

Sending up prayers for you Barb. It can be very frustrating to hit bumps in the road but don't worry - you will get through it - you will get a date soon - the doctors just want you to optimize your chances for a speedy recovery and make sure they resolve as much of your issues as they can before surgery so there's less chance for problems later on! This is a good thing. It is hard to just wait when you know what you want and you just want to get it going and get onto the next phase.. we've all been there. I hope you get great results next time and move right along very quickly from here on! We are all behind you!!
Thanks so much for your support Tuktu. I feel much better today. The support here is awesome!

Hi Barb,
My Vitamin D levels were super low and i had to take high doses of Vit. D and wait over 6 months for them to come up again before I could be cleared for surgery. Nobody referred me to an endocrinologist and I wish they would have as my thyroid has been "borderline" for over 10 years. My doctor "watches" it with regular blood work but does nothing about it.
I also had to wait an extra year to see an asthma specialist, so waited over 2 years to get surgery in total. It was a long haul but the time passed and I couldn't be happier. Just try to live your life and know that surgery will happen in the future and you'll be just as happy with the results even if they come later than you would wish.
Sending warm thoughts and prayers that you'll feel better, and that your levels will come up.
