Hamilton Orientation July 24/17 ... what is my rough timeline from here on
I started the process about three years ago and had to quit because of stress due to a marriage split.
I'm back on the list and emotionally ready for this journey. My orientation is in Hamilton on July 24. What are rough guesses as to when my surgery might happen? (Initially I was redirected to Guelph.)
The reason I am asking is because I am wondering if I should save up some vacation time here at work for a possible end of year surgery, or if I can use the days for the summer, knowing I have more vacation when 2018 starts.
Anyone with Hamilton experience would be greatly appreciated. I do know, of course, there are no guarantees. I'm just looking for a rough idea. (I have sleep apnea and am already using the CPAP machine, so there will not be a delay in getting that testing done.)
Thanks everyone!

I would use the vacation. IF you were to fly through all other appointments for approval they are already booking into September/October. There are a few orientation groups ahead of you so you will likely be pushing it for a year end surgery if the stars were to align and you had success with cancellations. Most people take about 1 year to 18 months

Just about a year - maybe a month or two less, is the norm after orientation.
TBIYTC-The Best Is Yet To Come Referral-Mar 2011 Surgery Feb 29th, 2012
I was referred on May 31st and am working through the Wharton Clinic in Hamilton which appears to have been contracted to help get through the backlog in patients going through the Process. On Tuesday I have the last (I think) of my tests - endoscopy and a colonoscopy - oh yeah! Depending on the outcome of all my tests I'm thinking that I might get surgery by January of 2018.
I talked to the Nurse at the Wharton Clinic just to get a bit of an idea and she seemed to think that my timeline was realistic.
Good Luck!

I am going through Hamilton also-recently saw internist and social worker in June, dietician 1 on 1 in Aug, and told that wont hear about surgeon appt for another 2-3 weeks--I assume will see him in Sept. Receptionist told me they are backed up and I have to do pre admit and another appt pre surgery (forgot name of it) before surgery booked. I am thinking hopefully surgery in October. Have already had pre dietician class and nurse appt in May. So you may be waiting for a while...
