1 Month Follow-up

So yesterday I was 5 weeks to the day post op. I did my requisite post-op 2 hour class re: nutrition, physical activity and lifestyle. Then I met with my RN.

I am down 14 lbs since surgery, and my eating and stage progression has been easy and relatively quick. All nutritional restrictions are gone (well... you know - lifetime diet) and my physical restrictions are done. I have spent the day, SLOWLY, putting my house back together. LOL You would think my husband and 3 teenagers could handle the house for 5 weeks... NOPE!

I have been really down over the last week, not exactly sure why. I go back and read my journal entries from those days and wondering what the catalyst was for the blues. I am just happy to have weathered that storm and come out on the other side unscathed.

I am back on track, staying active, eating properly (instead of just having protein shakes to avoid food prep and out of laziness), getting my family back on track starting today as well.

I feel like myself again. YAY

I have missed you guys, I couldn't bring myself to login when I felt so crappy. I am happy to see that people are progressing well, that surgery dates are being received and the program progression is moving ahead.

Barbara M. I am so sorry this is not moving along the way you expected and that you are facing obstacles that seem unnecessary. You are welcome to vent whenever you wish. We all need that sometimes.

Okay, I have babbled enough. HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!

Sounds like your doing great, and feeling a lot better!

The first month was hard on me too, emotionally. Probably a mix of things, hormone dumping, recovering, not being able to chew lol

Once, I got into my soft food diet, I felt a lot better. I still have days, even being almost 4 months out, but I think that's normal. Adjusting and recovering from the surgery is like I said and adjustment, and for me still on going. I by far have more good days then bad, so don't get me wrong, its just this is a very long journey ups and downs, but isn't that life?

Keep up the great progress!

Hi Jackie,

Congratulations on your progress. I still experience emotional ups and downs - thankfully, mostly ups but as we go through this process, our bodies, minds, and emotions are going through turmoil.

It is a good journey and I find one of my commitments is to log in during the week so I can log my food and see what everyone is up to. I'm not alone in this and although I have incredible support from my husband, children and a few friends, you guys are going through the battle and provide context, knowledge and support not found elsewhere.

Keep posting, sharing and updating - it's good for us all.

It sounds like you are doing really well Jackie. Congratulations! You must feel awesome. Thank you for the mention, but really I am doing better today than the last few. It will just take longer for me that's all. Thanks for listening though...and yes we all need to vent sometimes!

Thanks,

Barb

Thank you ladies for your support. We all need it especially when we may not feel so supported IRL.

This is very relatable. It is such a change and the surgery was on our bodies not our heads. Lol. This is a great group for support. You are doing great.
