Social work and doctor appointment on Wednesday

I have both my social worker appointment and doctor appointment this Wednesday in Windsor. I really don't understand why they need such personal and intimate details if my life. I understand this is a life altering surgery that requires huge lifestyle changes to be successful.

There are many other medical procedures out there that should also require these same changes. You don't have to give your whole life story for them. Heart surgery being one. You should for sure change your eating and exercise habits but you don't have to do a tonne of written work to prove you're ready. It just irks me. Does anyone else feel the same way or do I just need to suck it up? ?

It did feel invasive at points, but I was just thankful it was being paid for by govt as I know I would never have had the surgery without that happening. I think its good that they look into all the nooks and crannies to make sure you are ready for the lifetime permanent changes that come along with this surgery. Its not a quick fix or an easy way out. If they perform the surgery on someone who isn't mentally and physically ready, the medical professionals will be responsible so I don't blame them for covering their a$$es. Makes me more secure knowing they have my best interests in mind.

Its like the airport security - yeah its super annoying sometimes to be poked and prodded and questioned but I feel safer knowing everyone is going through the same inspection. LOL

Maybe it's because I have 2 friends going through the process in Hamilton and there social works appointments are NOWHERE NEAR as invasive as the Windsor homework.

I haven't had any of those appointments yet (my orientation is next week through Sudbury) but when I received my paperwork pack from Sudbury I was shocked at how invasive it was. Asking about physical, financial, mental and sexual abuse and how your relationship is with your parents and siblings etc. I found answering a lot of those questions painful (I suffered with all of the forms of abuse they asked about but I do not have any mental health issues as a result).

I get it, they need to know what, if anything, in your background has led to your obesity and if this will impact your ability to be successful after WLS but I honestly found it to be extremely invasive.
