Injections before surgery

Hi Everyone. I know you have to get the Opti Fast at the pharmacy at the hospital but what about the levenox? Can I get that at most pharmacies?

I was thinking I would pick up the Opti when I get the prescription but I would wait until closer to the surgery to pick up the levenox and it would be easier at my local pharmacy.

Hi gbears,

Wow, it's quiet here this weekend! Lots of Canada 150 celebrating!

I don't think we have to get lenevox at TWH... I haven't heard any mention of it! So, sorry, I can't chime in with an answer. Just wanted to say hi! No doubt someone more informed will be back from a fun long weekend soon!!

Also, I'm so excited for you because you're so close to surgery. Yay! Congratulations!!! I can't wait for you!!!

Are those injections blood thinners? If they are, you can get them at your local pharmacy. I had to do blood thinner injections after surgery.

Just be prepared depending on how long you have to take them (I had to do three weeks worth of injections after surgery) that they can be costly. Wasn't covered on my plan, cost close to 400 bucks. Hopefully you have a plan that will cover or don't have to take it as long (assuming its blood thinnners).

Good luck.

Hi!

Yes they are blood thinners. I am going to call my insurance. It is pretty inclusive so hope I am okay. If not they did tell me at my nurses appointment so I have been setting aside from money for that and the Opti which won't be covered.
