Surgery places in Saskatchewan and Canada

Hi People! I'm new to this site. I'm trying to find places in Saskatchewan where I can get surgery done. I know the government has one site in Regina but I've been on the waiting list for almost 3 years now and I really need to get this surgery done.

Does anyone know of a certified clinic in Saskatchewan that does this surgery? If not, I am willing to travel to get this done. I could go to Toronto (where I have friends who can help after the surgery) or if that doesn't work, I am willing to go just about anywhere.

A friend of mine went to Mexico many years ago and had the surgery done so that is an option if need be but I would prefer to stay in Canada.

Can any one help?

Alberta has 3 programs covered by Alberta Health Care - not sure if Sask Health care would cover it. Edmonton Adult Bariatric Clinic;one in Calgary & one in Red Deer. Edmonton's wait is long - I waited a year & a half to get in - not sure about wait list for Calgary or Red Deer or if any of the Alberta programs take patients from out of province. Also, they require a Doctor's referral. Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear you've been waiting so long. That really is crushing.

Do you know what is causing your long wait time? I thought Saskatchewan had a pretty good program (as far as Canada went) with wait times less than a year. Clearly, I could be wrong.

I'm a believer if you can get it covered by provincial health care, all the better. If you are looking for self pay, I don't have a lot to offer. Sorry! I haven't done a lot of research into that.

I did bypass with Dr. Christou in Montreal. He was amazing, highly recommend. another well known Montreal surgeon is dr. Gagner if you want to do your research.
